What Happens In January

Down, Labeled, Boxed, Gone

Four steps. You do not have to be home, and there is nothing for you to do but clear the driveway.

1. Everything comes off

Tate books a takedown day with you in January. Every clip, every strand and every cord comes off the house and off the gutters.

2. Each run gets a tag

Every string is tagged with its own number, its length in feet and where it went on your house. That is the same map that was made when your roofline was measured.

3. Your set gets a bin

The tagged strings go into a bin recorded against your address, not into a pile with everybody else's lights.

4. It waits inside

The bin sits in a climate-controlled facility until the next season. Not a hot attic, not a shed, not the corner of your garage.

Whose Lights Are They

You Own The Set. We Just Hold It.

This part matters, so here it is plainly. The bulbs, the clips, the cord and the track become your property once you have paid in full. That is in the service agreement.

Storage is us holding something that belongs to you. It is not a rental and you are not renting hardware back every year. If you want your set, you can take possession of it at any time on reasonable notice.

What you pay for the following season is the work: putting your own lights back up, maintaining them, taking them down and storing them again.

Two things worth knowing

Permanent roofline lighting never comes down. If you choose the track or puck option, there is no takedown and nothing to store, because it stays on the house all year and you turn it on when you want it. Storage is part of the seasonal service, so it is not part of that job. If you are weighing the two, read what permanent lights look like in daylight first.

Your own lights are a different question. If you already own strings you like, ask Tate before you assume. Retail strings, older sets and anything cut to a different house are not the same job as a set built for your roofline, and he will tell you straight what he can and cannot reuse.
